2023 Power Rankings

1. Washington Nationals (9-3)

The nation’s capital is led by the only two active Hall of Famers in the league, Anthony and Bobby Gambardella, who are teaming up together for the first time. Aaron Bartlett and Drew Zimmerman add even more offensive power to this attractive line-up. The last six league MVP awards belong to the current Nationals roster, as they look to add some more hardware to their respective arsenals. Bobby Gambardella, last year’s MVP and Silver Slugger seeks to clinch his fifth consecutive no. 1 seed. Washington’s roster batted .462 last season and have collected a combined total of six rings in 15 championship appearances over their tenures. The first-time owner Melissa Yataco and her draft class come out as the early preseason favorite to win the 2023 WBA Championship.

2. Texas Rangers (7-5)

The Rangers are without a doubt a team that will mash this summer. They combined for a team average of .444 and crushed 47 homers as a unit last year. The team is led by Nolan Rivera and Derek Astarita, where the latter in particular is coming off of a very special season, completing the rainbow collection in just four seasons. Andrew DePascale and Tyler Barreiro will round out this potent lineup, as they project to be one of the highest-scoring offenses this season. The Texas Rangers are owned by the brash John Reveron who has owned both the Pirates and Yankees the last two seasons, coming up short of a championship appearance both times.

3. Cincinnati Reds (5-7)

The Reds are a well-rounded group, capable of thriving on all three phases. Brian Marra, who is coming off of an underwhelming year, and Ryan Casano, who led the league in punch-outs last season, will lead the pitching staff. Rookie Shane O’Neill will come into the season with a lot of buzz, as critics are expecting him to have a Tier I caliber season at the plate. The team is rounded out by 10-year veteran and 3-time champion Cameron Carey, who adds a nifty bat to the lineup. The Reds are owned by Becca Sierra, who’s Mets made a championship appearance last year, and were just shy of pulling off the biggest upset in the history of the league.

4. Detroit Tigers (3-9)

The Tigers are a team with a lot to prove as they are led by last year’s championship MVP, Alex Santiago, who entered the Tier I pool after just two seasons in the league. Detroit also welcomes two consistent performers in Sean McDonnell and Mikey Ferro, who provide skills from both sides. The Tigers went to the farm and picked up rookie standout Vincent Marra, who is rumored to be a top-of-the-rotation starter. The Tigers are owned by back-back champion Rebecca Barbosa, and with a deep pitching staff it is very possible for Detroit to exceed its projection.
